With their dark red juicy sweet flesh, and slightly tart
skin, Satsuma plums make an excellent jam. We pick our sun ripened Satsuma
plums at their peak flavor and handcraft them into jam in small batches using
less sugar than traditional recipes. Wonderful spread on breakfast breads,
as a glaze for chicken and pork or added to barbeque sauce.
Satsuma plums are a red flesh plum, sweet and juicy with excellent flavor. Like many of our other fruits they are not grown commercially, but are perfect for our climate here in Lake Mathews. Satsumas are a Japanese variety introduced to California in the late 19th century. These flavorful plums make outstanding jams and syrups.Satsuma plums growing in our orchard.
